Celebrating National Afternoon Tea Week

Tea is quintessentially British and loved by the nation, in fact British literary icon Jane Austen would “rather have nothing but tea”. Everyone also knows that a cup of tea can fix anything, and if it can’t, well then the problem is much more serious than anticipated. When combined with cakes and sandwiches, you really cannot get a better union and from 14 August, we’ll be celebrating National Afternoon Tea Week. Here’s some of our suggestions from the Square…

Head to Gallery Mess for a spectacle, tiers of indulgent treats to go with your tea, coffee, or even champagne if you prefer. Enjoy British sandwiches, warm scones doused in clotted cream and jam as well as seasonal cakes to finish with something sweet. They also offer a ‘Origamitea’ for the little ones; a mini afternoon tea with a cupcake to decorate with fresh, healthy ingredients and a babycino.

If you don’t have the time to treat yourself to a full feast, why not visit Manicomio Poco who offer a delicious range of teas, traditional, fruit and herbal, as well as cakes and bakes. From carrot cake to fruit tartlets, or a coconut cookie; there is something delicious to enjoy and celebrate ‘tea time’.

If you’re thinking of hosting your own celebratory tea party, Partridges can help. Offering teas of all flavours and cakes of all bakes, this is the one stop shop to grab your favourite tea time treats to take home. They also stock all the ingredients to bake your own if you fancy yourself as the next Mary Berry, from a traditional Victoria Sponge to maybe a luxurious lemon drizzle cake, everything you need is under this roof.
